Heather Mandoli Alschular

Master Rowing Instructor

Heather brings a unique wealth of experience to indoor rowing instruction. As an experienced educator, rowing coach and Olympic athlete, Heather knows how impactful the erg can be. An erg’s visit to her PE class in high school is what introduced Heather to the sport of rowing and opened doors to college scholarships, international competitions and a lifetime of amazing experiences and friends.  After an All-American and Big Ten Rower of the Year career at the University of Michigan, she rowed for the Canadian National Team from 2004-2008. She retired from the sport after the 2008 Olympics, where she competed in the women’s eight. She then spent years developing, coordinating and running a curriculum-based indoor rowing program, throughout the Seattle Public schools called Erg Ed. Erg Ed is a weeklong curriculum that introduces all grade 6-8 students within Seattle Public Schools to the sport of rowing. Erg Ed has been so successful that it has now expanded to cities nationwide! She has now shifted her focus to her three young girls (5, 3, 1) and to training other potential instructors, teachers and coaches who would like to become certified indoor rowing instructors through UCanRow2. She hopes that she can inspire and safely introduce others to the amazing sport of rowing (both indoor and outdoor), for a lifetime of healthy fitness.
